Dental Anesthesiology Residency Program Requirements

Applicants for the two-year dental anesthesiology residency program must have graduated from a United States or Canadian dental school, and be eligible to practice dentistry in the State of New York.  Prior to enrollment, the applicant must have passed Part I and II of the National Dental Board Examination (NDBE).   In addition, the applicant must have completed at least one year of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) approved post-doctoral training program, before their enrollment in the program.  Applications from senior dental students will not be considered.

In support of their application, applicants must submit the following: a Personal Potential Index Evaluation (PPI) with at least three (3) evaluators; and three (3) Professional Evaluation Forms, one of which should come from a dental school faculty member and another from the residency program director.  In addition, applicants must submit their NDBE scores, a 2" X 2" photograph, and a fifty dollar ($50.00) application fee directly to the program.

The deadline for all applications is November 1st.  Applicants must ensure that all materials submitted in support of their application are received by that date.  Interviews will take place shortly thereafter.  Should a candidate be granted an interview, they will be asked to appear in person at the Medical Center.  Interviews will take place over the course of an evening during which time candidates will have the opportunity to tour the Medical Center's facilities, and meet with the Dental Anesthesiology Residency Program Director, the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, Dental and Medical Anesthesiology attendings, faculty from the Department of Dental Medicine as well as with residents currently enrolled in the program.

The Dental Anesthesiology Residency Program at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center participates in the National Matching Service (NMS) match.  Accordingly, the outcome of the application process will be announced as per guidelines determined by NMS.
