I.  DESCRIPTION OF COMPETENCIES

A. Clinical/Technical/Service                                    

Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks:                    

  • Oversees program development as relates to HIV and sexual health prevention services at Wyckoff
  • Manages all prevention-oriented grants and personnel, including HIV and Hepatitis screening programs and sexual and behavioral health services at Positive Health
  • Responsible for ensuring all prevention grant deliverables are met
  • Monitors prevention grant budget and expenditures
  • Builds institutional prevention capacity in ambulatory care, both internally and through external collaborations, to meet the goals of the hospital’s community service plan
  • Improves integration of prevention services and clinical care in close collaboration with clinical leadership
  • Monitors performance of prevention services and ensures standardization of measures and practices
  • Provides direct prevention services to patients, as needed
  • Collaborates with stakeholders across public health, community service providers, and community members         to develop and implement informed prevention services

B. Organizational/Managerial                                  

  • Develops and institutes prevention services, works to develop prevention policies, procedures, and algorithms for ambulatory care
  • Provides direct clinical and administrative supervision of prevention staff as assigned; performs performance appraisals and oversees scheduling, and professional development activities.
  • Forms and strengthens prevention partnerships in the community for services not provided at the medical center
  • Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities.     
  • Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.  
  • Ensures adherence by prevention staff to best practice guidelines.
  • Participates in management groups and committees
  • Provides leadership in developing and ensuring adherence to standards of care for the delivery of prevention services
  • Ensures maximal standardization of prevention across all ambulatory settings
  • Responsible for planning and overseeing all prevention Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
  • Ensures that prevention staff are trained on an ongoing basis in appropriate techniques and treatment modalities.
  • With other Directors and Managers as appropriate, develops, implements, and evaluates interventions and standards of care to optimize patient experience
  • Actively participates and supports the Director of Positive Health in grant-writing and prospecting of new funding opportunities in support of HIV, sexual health and Hepatitis prevention services 

II.   EDUCATION REQUIRED

MPH or Master’s level equivalent in health-related field.      

II.    EXPERIENCES AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED

3-5 years’ experience in program management related to sexual health/HIV/STI prevention services in underserved communities.  Knowledge of HIV/STI/Hepatitis prevention methodology and terminology. 3 years’ experience in program development and supervision of program staff and deliverables.
